Would You Buy Your Home?

Potential buyers are already making their decision on whether to make an offer on your home in the first few minutes after they step across the threshold.   The appearance as they approach your home can be greatly improved with plenty of colorful flower pots along the walkway and on the porch.Flowers_landscape

A new doormat should not be overlooked.  Be sure to turn on the exterior porch lamp no matter what time the showing. The  exterior paint should  look fresh and  not be cracking or peeling.  Now let us go inside....

When the  buyer enters your home the lights should be on in every room , and if possible, some music playing lightly in the background.  Light jazz is preferred,  with an absolute no on heavy metal unless you are showing your home to Ozzie Osborne.   Remember that buying a home engages all of the senses.  Be sure there are no pet, perfumes or last night's pizza odors still lingering in the air.

Clutter must be removed.  No blankets, piles of magazines or photo stacks  should be on the tables.  Fresh flowers, and polished furniture, puffed up couches with accent pillows will help set the tone.

All personal items in the bathroom and bedroom should be stored away.  Closets should be thinned of excess shoes and clothing.   For that matter, the more you can put in storage, the better.

For further ideas, take a walk through a model home.  If you are still stumped on how to get your home in  top show condition,  call in a specialist or stylist.
